Calling Dresden her main place of residence, Johanna Roggan is working as a freelance dancer and dance professional in all of Germany and internationally. She received her education in Nuremberg, Berlin and Linz. After her studies she went to Israel where among other things she has been able to study intensively Gaga – the dance vocabulary of the Bat Sheva Company.

Besides her voluntary work with Dresden´s freelance dance scene and network, TanzNetzDresden, she is giving dance and GYROKINESIS® Training for professionals and amateurs as well as workshops relating to motion-sensing systems (sound-specific-movement for interactive environments®). Her own creations, workshops and festival invitations as well as working with different choreographers brought her to Montréal, Santiago de Chile, Montevideo, Oslo, Sevastopol, Dnipropetrowsk, St.Petersburg, Prag, Amsterdam, Nürnberg, Berlin, Meiningen, Leipzig, Bonn, Görlitz, Chemnitz and Halle/ Saale.
In 2011 Johanna was engaged as coach for the Unart Performance Festival at Staatsschauspiel Dresden.2012/ 2013 she was also engaged as a guest dancer at Staatsschauspiel Dresden being involved in Reckless II – lebendige Schatten (Director: Sandra Strunz, Choreography: Ted Stoffer) and as dancer as well as choreographer in Fabian. Die Geschichte eines Moralisten (Director: Julia Hölscher). 2014 she worked again together with Julia Hölscher and produced the opera Eugen Onegin for the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater.
Her work wo es eben passt, Kapitel II was invited to the first Tanzplattform Sachsen in May 2013. The jury rewarded this piece with a co-production for a new work in 2014 together with HELLERAU – European Center for the Arts Dresden and Societaetstheater Dresden.
2013 she founded the guts company together with Josefine Wosahlo.With the Societaetstheater as a co-producer the guts company is funded within the Doppelpass Fund of the Federal Cultural Foundation for the seasons 2015/16 and 2016/17.
Johanna is among other things member of the board of the Villa Wigman für TANZ e.V. and of the Landesverbandes Freie Theater Sachsen e.V. She is committed intensively in the cultural policy field fighting for better working conditions of the freelancing performing arts especially in Dresden and Saxony.
